Walt Disney Sued for Alleged Religious Discrimination
SALDEF has filed a class action religious discrimination lawsuit against Walt Disney World Company on behalf of Mr. Sukhbir Channa and the Sikh American community. Mr. Channa, a practicing Sikh American, applied for a job with Disney in the Fall of 2006 but was not hired and was told that he did not have the “Disney look” – a rejection of his religiously-mandated dastaar (Sikh turban).

Golf Digest Apologizes to Sikh Community for Irreverent Display of Image of Sikh Guru
This past June, the Sikh American Legal Defense and Education Fund (SALDEF), the nation’s oldest and largest Sikh American civil rights and advocacy organization, spoke with Golf Digest Editor-in-Chief and Chairman Jerry Tarde who offered his apology to SALDEF and the Sikh Community for using the display of an image of Guru Arjan Dev Ji as a “golfing guru” in the May 2008 edition.
